Perhaps we should kick off with some music…?
The great thing about this movie is, it’s on YouTube!
Here’s the discussion that followed a showing of the movie at Harvard
This is going to be a bit YouTube heavy, but HERE is a podcast interview with Morris in characteristically combative mood talking about “Unknown Known”
…and whilst we’re trying to make it NOT all about YouTube here, HERE is a link to an interview that Morris gave for Reason TV in 2014. Sure, if you click on the actual interview itself it takes you to YouTube, but you start from Reason TV’s page itself, which has a lot of Errol Morris based input.
…So Who Is Errol Morris?
This goes some way to answering that question…
The Rumsfeld movie was not Morris’s first excursion into the format, he is probably best known for a movie called “The Fog of War” with Robert McNamara. as the Imperialist Swine at YouTube actually want MONEY for you to see it, we’ll have to be content with this post showing discussion.
Morris’s main contribution to the world of documentary film has to be his development of the “Interrotron” for conducting interviews. HERE is a brief article so your can make your own at home!
Speaking of the Interrotron, here’s another documentary film maker who was prepared to turn the beast loose on himself!
…but I digress, there is unfinished business…
I’m confident that this is the source of Rumsfeld’s down home manner, and a big part of the reason for it’s success.
We enjoy podcasts and have no problem with recommending good ones. HERE is a link to the show page for Blowback season 1, easily the most exhaustive account of the Iraq war. The show itself is available on Spotify, etc.
It would be nice to end on a positive note. George Galloway is no stranger to controversy, but if you haven’t ever sat down and watched all 48 minutes of his testimony to the US Senate… Maybe you should…
