YouTube 'Splainers

Always ready to jimmy open a window on the Zeitgeist, our heroes take a closer look at the Youtube tutorial, better known as the 'splainer
1

Let’s get into this…

Excuse us for starting with music; we like music, but this first one is where the discussion really kicks off…

…the use of animation here makes it typical of a certain kind of ‘splainer.

We also had a brief, mistrustful glance at the phenomenon of the Ted Talk. This is one that Tom likes.

That’s a good one, but we all know about the others. HERE is the beast itself, trying to learn from it’s mistakes.

Music ‘splainers

This is what a ‘splainer should like…

We also liked this one. I think a lot of people would find this very helpful. Clearly stated and easy to understand…

This next one made my brain hurt, but that’s not difficult…

A lot of these things are easier when you look at the keyboard…

We need to talk about Rick…

Opinion is divided, between the Gas Giants, about Rick Beato. Gav feels that if he’d had Neapolitan 6th’s explained to him like this at college, he wouldn’t have had to re-sit his Harmony and Counterpoint paper.

This is the side of Rick Beato that Tom has a problem with..

…to be fair, this got a lot of pushback from the internet..

..or this. Tell the truth, he’s quite mellow here.

The next Bone of Contention…

…maybe this explains matters…

…and here is Tom himself, with a video explaining an alternative guitar tuning..

OK, maybe enough Music…

This video was extremely helpful as research for the short story that you can read HERE, but maybe not in the way that the creator expected.

Here’s the injured hand shuffling video, also useful…

Speaking of Cards, this is the video that really got us started on the whole topic

On the other hand, here’s one that Tom likes…

…Personally, I’d like to leave the last word to Derek from Vice Grip Garage.
